Camp Injuries Are Piling Up — Here's Why That's Normal (Mostly)

Training camp is barely underway and the injury list is already long: Ricky Pearsall's PCL surgery ends his 49ers season before it starts, Christian McCaffrey and Mike Evans have both missed practice time, and the Bears' Luther Burden III is dealing with a groin injury. None of this is unusual — camp is when bodies that spent the offseason undertrained get pushed hard again, and soft-tissue injuries (groin, hamstring) spike every August for exactly that reason. The ones to actually worry about are the surgical ones like Pearsall's. Everything else is mostly noise until Week 1 status reports start.
